Registration of Marriage

Applicant:

  1. Two parties or one of the parties of marriage.
  2. Interested party (if without the applicant mentioned above).
  3. Consignee (but only for the one who is permitted by the “Household Registration Office” with appropriate reasons).

Certificate documents are required (original copies):

  1. Marriage Certificate (but if the both party of marriage and the two witnesses arrive the “Household Registration Office” in person, it is not necessary to submit the marriage certificate.)
  2. The two parties' household lists, ID cards, seals or signatures signed by the applicant herself/himself (if the applicant is foreigner, please offer his/her passport or certificate of nationality). If the applicant authorizes others to complete the procedures of registration, please submit the power of attorney, ID card, seal or signature of consignee.
  3. If the applicant gets married in foreign country, the certificate and the Chinese translation copy shall be verified by the units in foreign countries. If the certificate has not translated into Chinese, please translate it into Chinese, which has to be verified by the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or courts of justice after the applicant comes back to Taiwan . Furthermore, the power of attorney shall be also verified if the applicant authorizes others to complete the procedures of registration.
  4. If one of the parties of marriage has no domestic household register, he/she shall offer the single certificate according to regulations of law.
  5. If the applicant gets married in the mainland of China , the procedures of registration shall be started after the certificate of marriage issued by related authority in the mainland of China is verified by the Straits Exchange Foundation.
  6. If one of parties of marriage is foreigner or without nationality, his/her Chinese name shall be complied with the convention of our country when the application is ready for registration.
